Remove Registered Agent
How it works

How removing a registered agent from a New York LLC works

Remove Registered Agent reads your LLC's live State record before anything is filed or paid.

You enter your LLC's name, confirm the details, sign and pay. Remove Registered Agent does the rest: it reads your LLC's live State record, fills in the Certificate of Change, files it electronically with the Department of State, checks the record afterwards and sends you the State's filing receipt.

Our record at a glance

  • 5.0 out of 5 from 337 Google reviews

The average star rating across all 337 Google reviews of our operator, from customers of its New York LLC publication filings, as of October 25, 2026.

    Read the reviews

  • 100 New York Certificates of Change filed, all accepted

Every one our operator has filed with the Department of State since January 2026, as of October 30, 2026. It is the same filing a New York LLC uses to revoke its registered agent.

    See every filing

  • 1,460 New York LLC publication orders handled by our operator

Our operator, Sandeep Arneja LLC, also runs New York LLC publication filings. Unpaid, fully refunded and cancelled orders are not counted. As of October 30, 2026.

  • Files electronically with the Department of State as a service company

Each signed certificate goes through the E-Submission upload of eCorp, the Department of State's online filing system, under our operator's service company account, and gets a work order number when it is submitted. Filers without a service company account email or mail the Certificate of Change.

  • $100 all in

The $30 State filing fee is included: one payment, nothing recurring. The Certificate of Change accepted by the State, or your full $100 back.

Step by step

From the record check to the State's filing receipt

Nothing is filed until your LLC has confirmed the details, signed the certificate and paid.

  1. You

    Enter your LLC's name

Type your LLC's name or DOS ID into the free record check. No account is needed.

  2. We

We read its live State record

Remove Registered Agent reads your LLC's live record at the New York Department of State and shows you what it lists: the registered agent the record names, if any, and the service of process address, the post office address to which the Secretary of State mails a copy of any process against the LLC served on it. Process is the papers served to start or carry on a legal action, such as a summons. We also show whether electronic service of process (e-service) is permitted, and what a Certificate of Change would change. If there is nothing to remove, we say so, and no removal is sold.

  3. You

    Submit your request

Confirm it is your LLC, then leave your name, email and phone. Nothing is filed or paid until you confirm your LLC's details with us by email. We'll reply by email within one business day.

  4. We

    We prepare the certificate

Remove Registered Agent fills in the certificate from your LLC's live State record and emails you what it would change, for you to confirm in writing. Where the certificate needs them, you also give the new service of process address, the choice for the e-service email address, and the name and capacity of the person who will sign. Remove Registered Agent never picks the address, the email choice or the signer's capacity.

  5. You

    Sign the certificate

A member, manager or authorized person of your LLC signs the Certificate of Change: form DOS-1359-f for a New York LLC, or DOS-1362-f for a foreign LLC. Form DOS-1359-f has no notary, oath or perjury line. Remove Registered Agent never signs for the LLC.

  6. You

    Pay once

You pay the $100, with the $30 State filing fee inside it. Nothing is charged before the certificate is signed.

The Certificate of Change accepted by the State, or your full $100 back. How the guarantee works

  7. We

    We file it

Once the payment goes through, the certificate is filed. Remove Registered Agent files each signed certificate electronically through the E-Submission upload of eCorp, the Department of State's online filing system, under its operator's service company account; filers without a service company account email or mail the Certificate of Change. An uploaded certificate goes into the Department of State's system when it is submitted, dated that day, with a work order number, and there is nothing to print, mail or scan. Of the 12 Certificates of Change our operator emailed to the Department of State from June 15 to July 1, 2026, 11 were dated the day they were sent or the next business day; a mailed one is dated no earlier than the day the mail reaches the Department. Of the 100 Certificates of Change our operator filed from January 12 to October 29, 2026, the 29 uploaded through eCorp's E-Submission, the route every certificate an LLC signs takes, had a median of under 1 day from filing to the State's response, and the 23 sent by mail a median of 7.2 days from mailing. These are past records, not a promise.

  8. The State

The Department of State processes it

The Department of State publishes no standard processing time for a Certificate of Change. By our count of New York DOS open data read on October 26, 2026, of the 467 Certificates of Change that revoked a New York LLC's registered agent from January 2 to October 13, 2026, 239 (51.2%) show an "Approved Date" 3 days or less after their "Date Filed", and 36 (7.7%) show one more than 30 days after it. These are past records, not a promise.

How long it takes, in the State's own dates

  9. We

We check the record and send the receipt

Remove Registered Agent checks your LLC's live record afterwards and sends you the State's filing receipt and what changed on the record.

  10. You

Your contract with the registered agent company

With the State's filing receipt in hand, the LLC can then cancel or not renew its contract with the agent company, as that contract allows.

The three cases

What the certificate does in each case

The record check reads the case from your LLC's live State record, and the price is the same in each.

  • A registered agent, with the address elsewhere

    The record shows
A registered agent under "Registered Agent Name and Address", and a service of process address that is not an agent company's.
    The certificate
Revokes the designation of the registered agent. Revoking the agent alone leaves the service of process address as it is. When that address is at a building that agent companies or mailbox services use, Remove Registered Agent asks you by email whether it is your own, and if it is not, the same certificate also replaces it.
  • A registered agent, with an agent company's address

    The record shows
A registered agent, and a service of process address that is an agent company's.
    The certificate
Revokes the registered agent and replaces the service of process address with one you choose, on one certificate.
  • No registered agent, but an agent company's address

    The record shows
No registered agent, but a service of process address that is an agent company's, or is at a building that agent companies or mailbox services use.
    The certificate
Replaces the service of process address with one you choose. There is no registered agent to revoke.
  • Nothing to remove

    The record shows
No registered agent, and a service of process address with no agent company on our list.
    The certificate
There is nothing to remove, so no removal is filed or sold.

In every case, when the record shows "Electronic Service of Process on the Secretary of State as agent: Permitted", you choose whether to change or delete the e-service email address, or to keep it only if your LLC's own filing with the State shows the email is yours. The public record shows "Permitted" or "Not Permitted", never the email address itself.

After the filing

What your LLC's State record shows afterwards

Revoking a New York LLC's registered agent does not move its service of process address: the Secretary of State keeps mailing a copy of any process against the LLC to the address on file until a filing changes it. One Certificate of Change, form DOS-1359-f, can revoke the registered agent and replace the service of process address on the same filing.

On all 14 records we read on October 23, 2026 whose agent a Certificate of Change had revoked, the State's live record showed "Registered Agent Revoked" under "Registered Agent Name and Address", with a blank agent address, and the filing history listed "REGISTERED AGENT_REVOKE AUTHORITY OF REGISTERED AGENT". On DOS Public Inquiry, the same entry prints in capitals: under "Registered Agent Name and Address", it reads "Name: REGISTERED AGENT REVOKED".

Example: a revoked registered agent on DOS Public Inquiry

DOS Public Inquiry

Live State record

Your LLC's name

Registered Agent Name and AddressRevoked
Name: REGISTERED AGENT REVOKEDAddress: Blank
Service of Process on the Secretary of State as Agent
The address on file, until a filing changes it
Electronic Service of Process on the Secretary of State as agent:

Filing history
REGISTERED AGENT_REVOKE AUTHORITY OF REGISTERED AGENT

All 14 records we read on October 23, 2026 whose agent a Certificate of Change had revoked showed the registered agent entry and the filing history this way.

The new service of process address is public on DOS Public Inquiry, and the State's open data keeps the old address on the old filing's row.

Questions about the process

Who signs the Certificate of Change, and does it need a notary?

Form DOS-1359-f has no notary, oath or perjury line. Under LLC Law §207(a)(6), the certificate "must be signed by at least one member, manager or authorized person of the limited liability company", and §207(d) says "Each article or certificate must include the name and capacity of each signer." The form's capacity boxes are Member, Manager and Authorized Person. The customer signs every certificate Remove Registered Agent files; Remove Registered Agent never signs for the LLC and never picks the signer's capacity.

How to file DOS-1359-f to remove a New York registered agent

Does the registered agent company have to agree, or be told?

The texts of LLC Law §211-A(a), §302 and DOS-1359-f contain no requirement that the agent consent to, or be told of, a certificate the LLC files. With the State's filing receipt in hand, the LLC can then cancel or not renew its contract with the agent company, as that contract allows.

Does a foreign LLC use the same form?

No: a foreign LLC files its Certificate of Change under LLC Law §804-A, on form DOS-1362-f, and a New York LLC, a PLLC included, files form DOS-1359-f. DOS-1362-f (Rev. 12/22) words the removal "The foreign limited liability company hereby revokes the designation of its registered agent." The statement has no blank, so the certificate does not name the agent it revokes. Remove Registered Agent prepares the form the LLC's record calls for.
